Why does a mother keep a willing, loving, and good natured father away from their child out of spite, is this type of behavior child abuse or neglect ?
You’ve answered your own question! The reason is often spite. Sometimes former couples don’t have time or don’t allow themselves to grieve the loss of their relationship with each other. This unprocessed loss often comes out as anger which interferes with the child’s well-being.It happens very often and causes immense harm to children who have to witness their parents in high conflicts for months or years. The best thing to do is to get the angry person in to therapy to process their feelings and learn how to be more child-centric. Often, however, they refuse treatment which is a defense mechanism to avoid discussing their pain. Usually only a close friend or family member can get them into therapy.

Do you know of a child who died due to abuse, neglect or other circumspect reasons while in foster care?
Yes, here in my home state of Michigan. I am not speaking of “a” child. I am speaking of children - plural, as in multiple children.http://www.childrensrights.org/p...You have NO IDEA how bad it is. I had three foster children, all of which I have since adopted. I have seen the system firsthand. It is truly scary. And the worst part is, EVERYBODY INVOLVED knows it is broken and desperately wants to fix it, but has no idea where to start. They think that more parent screening will resolve the issue, but they missed why it isn’t working in the first place. The CRITERIA of a foster parent has changed, and not for the better.Originally, it was about people with a heart for children, who loved them and wanted to make a home for them. They wanted to SERVE THE CHILDREN. This is an important distinction. I’ll circle back to that. Many of these people come from communities of faith and feel called to provide loving homes for these at-risk children. Their faith, whatever it may be, provides them with the inner strength, and the extended community necessary to endure this long and arduous journey without losing hope. These tools and resources were necessary for the success of such an enterprise.THEN….we decided we had a better idea.We decided that Foster Parents should be selected (or denied) on the basis of populist ideology that had no bearing on the ability to effectively raise children. Christian parents who had done a wonderful job of fostering were no longer desired because they refused to jump on the LBGTQ - and whatever letters were added since - bandwagon. I’m not making this up:https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/05/22/texas-bill-allows-child-agencies-to-deny-services-based-on-religion-some-say-it-targets-lgbt-familiesOther’s because their faith doesn’t jibe with popular culture in telling children things that are KNOWN to be lies.Parents denied foster children because they won’t lie about Easter BunnySo people who want to raise children simply because they love children are being turned away because they don’t fit in the pop-culture self-delusional framework created by the media (social AND professional).Even parents who discipline children (something sorely lacking in today’s generation) are vilified, as any form of corporal punishment is seen as back woods forms of abuse. Again, I am not making this up.http://www.lowellsun.com/local/c...At the same time, others, who may have no experience with childhood and desire a child, not as a service to the child but to fulfill their own desires to be parents, are filing cases to require they be given the right to adopt, whether it is in the best interests of the child or not in order to fulfil their own PERSONAL needs.Lesbian couple sues HHS, Catholic Church over being blocked as foster parentsNow don’t lost in your own homophobia here, the lesbian couple is not the problem. They may be very good parents. But that’s NOT the issue. The group in question is CATHOLIC by definition. Which means they have a definition of family. It might not be our definition, but it is their definition. So first you tell them that their definition of marriage is a sham. Then you tell them their definition of family is a joke. Then you demand their respect. Really?Let me sit here and tell you that everything you think and feel is an anachronistic joke, the faith you have based your life on is white supremacy at it’s core, and your very definition of the nuclear family is laughable to me.Got that? Good, now show me all the love and respect I just denied you.And that is the stupidity that now runs social services. Thousands of newly minted social workers with no kids of their own and no life experience to speak of blithely telling those of us out here fighting the good fight every single day, that they are somehow more knowledgeable about our children, and that we, as parents, are unqualified to raise them as contributing members of society, all the while interfering with our ability to do so and preventing us from taking corrective action when they go off the rails.THESE are the idiots running CPS and Social Services. It’s a miracle ANY child survives.

Do you agree that 'time-out' discipline is or can be a form of child abuse?
Wait, who would we agree with? You, the Dr. Peter Nieman & Dr. Sarah Shea, or Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson.First, brain scans are only brain scans. This argument is used to justify censoring video games without scientific evidence. So, I am always wary of brain scans. What NIH.go: Effective Discipline for children is saying that there are effective ways on how to discipline a child using three technique and one is the time out. The doctors in this study are not say the time out is abusive. Nieman and Shea are saying that here are the best ways to use it.Siegal & Bryson give the reader a lot of claims about the time out. However, they only use one source to show the changes of the brain, but do not back up on all their hypothesis such as how parents use the time out in the first place. They try to and fail to distinguish between an over the top time out and a regular time out, but no real clarification.I understand that this is a time article and there will be limitations getting their argument through. However, this was done poorly even for the limits. They talk about the time in instead of a time out. Holy crap Batman what the hell do you think parents do before the time out. I have no idea what other parents do 100% nor do I have the numbers. However, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt that there are a bunch of parents that do not throw the kid into time out right off the bat without any explanation. At least for my wife and I the time out is reserved once we have tried to explain the reasons behind it, and if our child either keeps up the action X or continues to argue and is then in a tantrum. Personally, I think that Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson is spewing common sense actions that majority of the parents might do on some level, or try to do, and by spewing out captain obvious making them sound more intelligent then they are or it could lead to coinage.Back to the question:Do you agree that 'time-out' discipline is or can be a form of child abuse? You: I have no clue. Dr. Peter Nieman & Dr. Sarah: YesDaniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson: No.

A mandated reporter of child abuse should not report neglect if we believe it is due to poverty per my company training. How is this fair to the children?
First, poverty is not neglect. Serving enough food and generally healthy food is what a parent needs to do. Don’t start applying unfair, elitist standards like “you don’t serve what I’d like”, “the kids don’t get enough variety” or “but it isn’t organic”.Second, you’re going to hurt kids by taking them away from loving protective parents if they are too POOR to meet your ideal standard. Aside from the chronic anxiety separation causes and the greater risk of being abused in foster care than with their parents …Third, you’re going to hurt the few legitimate cases in the foster care system by flooding it. Why? Because your definition of neglect equals poverty. Depending on your threshold, 10–20% of children are in poverty. Are you going to take 1/6 of children away from their parents and stick them in foster care and institutions? You just overwhelmed the system, dividing resources per child to so little that it is meaningless.Fourth, this definition is so prone to abuse that it is a violation of people’s rights. I am middle class. I’ve had people tell me that I am neglecting my children by not giving them “normal” experiences like team sports or paying for all the camps they wanted. Never mind that they were in Scouts and academic clubs and I didn’t want to add another thing to the roster. Are you going to take children from parents who can’t afford $400 STEM camp, though they may be taking children to the library a couple times a week? Are you going to torture working parents for not taking kids to a constant stream of activities because you think this is neglect, when they want to have quality family time what little time they’re at home?I understand you want to help poor families. Check your privilege, then check out ways to help the FAMILY.Give them information on charities and government programs that can provide the physical items you think they should provide but can’t. Charities that give bikes and toys out at Christmas. Free books from Dolly Parton’s charity.Do this by connecting people with charities that pay for camps or free activities they can do like Scouts.Connect them with job placement services that can help them earn more money. Then you may lift the whole family out of poverty.Give advice on how they can earn degrees and certifications that make them more employable.

How can I fill out Google's intern host matching form to optimize my chances of receiving a match?
I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team. Before the interviews, try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Prepare well your resume. You are very likely not going to get algorithm/data structure questions like in the first round. It's going to be just some friendly chat if you are lucky. If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview) but it's worth it of course.

Its been established that the origin of becoming & having NPD is due to childhood variables like abandonment, neglect, and forms of abuse from parents. Is the ultimate reason only due to a child's environment?
Many people will tell you that genetics plays a huge part, and it might….I’m not saying it doesn’t. But I am saying that:the fact that some people, in situations that “seem” similar, do not develop NPD, is far from evidence that it is genetically based. Just because two children are abused, does not mean that the double-binds and betrayal context is also duplicated in both environments. There are a ton of small differences beyond genetics that could account for this variance.it’s wasted energy to focus on the genetic influence; unless you have millions of dollars to spend on unproven & cutting edge gene manipulation, there is nothing you can do with this info EXCEPT to use it as an excuse to not work on the areas you CAN change….e.g. your habits of relationship with yourself and othersAlso, a lot of “professionals” will tell you that NPD patients do not change/recover. Again, lets not confuse causality here. Firstly, NPD seems to be a somewhat rewarding strategy in US culture, so the incentives are not always aligned to promote change. Furthermore, most professionals just have no clue how to work with NPD. But rather than admitting they don’t know what they are doing, they just claim that it’s impossible. And that is bullshit…I’ve seen & been trained by really competent therapist in the Hakomi community that know exactly what they are doing.
