Departments of education and school districts always have to make decisions about what to include in their curriculum.  There are a lot of life skills that people need that aren't taught in school.  The question is should those skills be taught in schools?I teach high school, so I'll talk about that.  The typical high school curriculum is supposed to give students a broad-based education that prepares them to be citizens in a democracy and to be able to think critically.  For a democracy to work, we need educated, discerning citizens with the ability to make good decisions based on evidence and objective thought.  In theory, people who are well informed about history, culture, science, mathematics, etc., and are capable of critical, unbiased thinking, will have the tools to participate in a democracy and make good decisions for themselves and for society at large.  In addition to that, they should be learning how to be learners, how to do effective, basic research, and collaborate with other people.  If that happens, figuring out how to do procedural tasks in real life should not provide much of a challenge.  We can't possibly teach every necessary life skill people need, but we can help students become better at knowing how to acquire the skills they need.  Should we teach them how to change a tire when they can easily consult a book or search the internet to find step by step instructions for that?  Should we teach them how to balance a check book or teach them how to think mathematically and make sense of problems so that the simple task of balancing a check book (which requires simple arithmetic and the ability to enter numbers and words in columns and rows in obvious ways) is easy for them to figure out.  If we teach them to be good at critical thinking and have some problem solving skills they will be able to apply those overarching skills to all sorts of every day tasks that shouldn't be difficult for someone with decent cognitive ability  to figure out.  It's analogous to asking why a culinary school didn't teach its students the steps and ingredients to a specific recipe.  The school taught them about more general food preparation and food science skills so that they can figure out how to make a lot of specific recipes without much trouble.  They're also able to create their own recipes.So, do we want citizens with very specific skill sets that they need to get through day to day life or do we want citizens with critical thinking, problem solving, and other overarching cognitive skills that will allow them to easily acquire ANY simple, procedural skill they may come to need at any point in their lives?

Your question says one thing and your explanatory comment says another.Your question refers to 'craft' and going 'above and beyond' but then you slip in the fact that you see success as being published.  Then you add in your comments that you've been entering competitions and submitting to magazines and that you are frustrated at the lack of response.So the first thing you need to do is to decide what your goal is.  Is it to get better?  Then stop emphasizing competition and acceptance and take your images to people not businesses or contests.  Don't go looking for recognition at this stage.  Seek out feedback from knowledgeable sources.  And don't do it with digital images, the quality of which depend entirely on the transmission and display facilities of the recipient.  Those beautiful, delicate, high-detailed colors that you know are in your pictures might or might not be showing up on the other end.  Magazines and contests don't tell you what mistakes you are making.  If you get published or win, then you get an ego boost and maybe a little validation that what you thought was worthwhile might have been worthwhile, but so what?  It doesn't tell you one tiny thing about what you need to make yourself a better craftsman or artist.  Winning/selling/publishing is candy.  It makes you happy and satisfied.  But not better.  Satisfaction never made anyone better.Being told where you screwed up, what you did wrong, why that image you thought was pretty cool was really not so hot can hurt, embarrass and sometimes even humiliate.  But that's because any photographer worth a pixel invests their work with as much of themselves as they possibly can, so when your work gets criticized you are being criticized.  So, yeah, it hurts.  It should hurt because you didn't do it right and you want to do it right.  And the only way to get better at anything is to learn both what to do and what not to do.  So if your goal is recognition, then you are in it for the people you want to get recognition from.  If you please them, then you get a "GOOD JOB!" But if your goal is to learn the craft and art of photography, then resign yourself to the fact that one year is not enough to even skim the surface of the technical side of photography, much less the aesthetic.  The best photographers understand that even after a lifetime, they still have more to learn.

Same reason you’re whimpering about it.Just have your own fun and others will join.Also people forget… some people have a mind that moves so fast, we don't think the same.There's also courtesy, constant liars and jerks.Really don't define anything with people and for god sakes don't ask people to hang out. They either do or don't. Asking for it, is just asking for it… hmmI mean you need a shared interest with people… people only care about their own interests.

My district has a window of time that allows students to transfer to chosen schools. Almost all transfers are accepted.There is a specific procedure to do this correctly.If the student lives in a different district, they have to officially notify that district that they are planning on going to a neighboring district. Paperwork must be signed by both districts.Please contact all the districts involved. They can help you with the steps.Each year the student must reapply for the transfer. My district only denies transfers when attendance or behavior has been an issue.

If you are willing to work hard, then start working hard right now and improve your GPA. By the end of high school you should be able to get into a good university, even if it is not MIT. You will find a lot of smart people at a great many universities.
