The way to be filled with the Holy Spirit is very varied. A person doesn’t necessarily have to be prayed for; they can receive on their own by themselves by asking the Lord God. But one way in the Bible is being prayed for by another Christian ’laying hands on them’. It doesn’t have to be a pastor. There is no ‘magic’ happening here. No man or woman has the power to knock other people out. No one has to fall down nor is forced to fall down, but if they do fall down, the other person did not ‘knock them out’. I have also experienced people trying to push me down (gently), but I didn't fall down. When there is a genuine, there are always counterfeits and copy-cats too. But a genuine experience will be a memorable and life changing experience.I was filled with the Holy Spirit in private by myself by praying to Jesus and receiving by faith - I didn’t fall down - I was driving at the time. Four decades ago when I was a new Christian I asked God what about these people falling down in some meetings I saw on TV or that I attended? It looked to me like the other person was pushing them down. (I am a natural skeptic and suspicious person). I told the Lord (regarding several things- like speaking in tongues and like falling down or anything that I didn't understand… I told Him that “if it is real and from Him, I wanted it, but if not, then I didn’t want it.” Then I left it like that. I didn't seek for things to happen. We should not focus on or seek after signs or manifestations (that’s when things can get ‘off’). We should only seek after the Lord Himself and His will. Anyway, soon after that we had a visiting evangelist visit our church who had huge meetings in Africa, in which hundreds or thousands fell down at once. I had seen clips of his meetings on Christian TV. At the end of his psignNowing at our church, which was totally Christ-honoring and Christ-uplifting and evangelistic (inviting people to come to Jesus), he said if anyone wanted to be prayed for and touched by God to come down to the front (very general - not for anything specific). I went forward along with about 1/4 of the people attending. I can tell you that the power of the Holy Spirit was very strong; my legs felt weak as soon as I started walking down to the front, but I didn't think much about that. It was very crowded in the front; we were packed tightly together. I was standing in front of the first pew and I knew the youth who were sitting there right behind me… I peeked at them several times, because it felt like they were touching or gently tugging on the bottom of my dress, but they weren’t. I didn’t know what was going on- later I decided it must have just been my legs shaking. Then the speaker and his assistant (an African man) prayed for people quickly one by one. I was one of the first ones to be prayed for. I was surprised when the African prayed for me, his hand was so large that his fingers held my head, from one temple to the other one… he did not even slightly push me, but held my head for a moment, then I went down, which I was not expecting. It was supernatural because we didn’t even have space to fall - I ended up looking up at the pews- I was under the pews and then I realized another person’s legs were across my legs. But it was very peaceful… the presence of God was there. The thought crossed my mind: “What should I do now?” as I lay there and couldn't get up because I was trapped under the pews with someone’s legs across my legs. Afterwards I questioned “What was the purpose of that?” and I still do not know, except that God’s power was manifested and it was a nice and memorable experience. And then there were some other times too in some special meetings where the anointing was strong, but I have described only the first time I learned that God’s power is real. I will not be manipulated or forced into anything. I have experienced other supernatural things too that have happened when not expected and not attempted. People don’t understand and cannot really judge or analyze these things, but when you experience them, it is humbling and memorable.

Being filled with the Holy Spirit. Well, 25 years ago, I went to a healing mass for my sister, Lynn, who had cancer, and she lived 300 miles away. I wanted her to receive the blessings from the Holy Spirit.The church was full of people and we all did very thoughtful prayers and songs and I was alone really deep in prayer. I felt funny having this man wanting me to get the blessing when I was really there for my sister.So then this person laid their hands over my head and within a second my legs gave out from under me. I went limp. I couldn’t hold myself up if I wanted to. The man who brought me up there was right behind me to hold me as I was sinking lifeless towards the ground. I didn’t fall down completely, I tried to fight it, but I had absolutely no control. There was no tingling feeling or anything else like that. It was just a lose of my ability to hold myself up. How did he know I needed a blessing for myself and that it would work out the way it did? The Holy Spirit really came to and through me. I saw it happen to others as I watched but I never expected it to happen to me. It really happens to people. They just collapse straight down. Some even pass out, so they are laid down gently and they come to within a short time. I assume those are the ones who are sick and need the extra workings from the Holy Spirit.
