I think you should give it a go at biochemistry.If you go into biochemistry, also expect a lot of studying time. Of course, some colleges have shorter courses than others, but pal, in the end no matter how much time you have to study, it’s worth it!One of the main reasons I say this is because if it’s your passion, don’t go without it just because you (again, depending on the college) may have to study for 9–10 years (but same goes for law). Both professions require long, hard hours of training/studying. If studying in a school/college (ON CAMPUS) isn’t for you, don’t be either.There’s no reason to waste good money on tuition if you’re only going to decide later that you don’t want to pressure that career. Also remember that it’s extremely expensive to become a doctor/lawyer (most people (with or without loans) send on average $900,000 through the coarse of their studying). Nothing is cheap. But in the end, of course, if you become a doctor/lawyer, you’ll be making lots of money to make up for it. Like I said, if it’s not your passion or what you really want to do, don’t do it.When it comes to salary, doctors (even biochemists, as I recommended) make much more money than lawyers. Mosts biochemists (if you are well-trained and a top one) make $130,000 annually opposed to $100,000 for most lawyers (annually).If you are looking into becoming a surgeon, the hours are ridiculous. You’re basically working (most nights) 17-hour shifts on back-to-back surgeries and helping around the hospital in the meantime. You’ll also be on your feet a lot. On the upper hand of being a surgeon, most surgeons make an average of $250–300,000 annually. This is not a good route if you want to raise a family one day.Remember, when you complete studying and go into the profession, it’s very hard to get out of it. You’ll be very used to the hours and you probably won't want to stop, even if you have another obligation. With both careers as a lawyer or a surgeon, your work is your ONLY life. There is no time for any other. Of course, on occasion you will see your co-workers and go out for beers or whatever, but you won’t have much time to yourself.Personally, I don’t exactly recommend either careers, mainly because of the stress, inability to raise a family and work hours. It can also mess you up mentally if you’re not used to being up all night. But please, I’ll say it again, if it’s not your passion, DON’T DO IT.I’m just going to throw it out there: because you love biology and chemistry, you could look into archaeology. It’s the study of ancient artifacts/ancient grounds (basically anything ancient). It takes about the same amount of time of training as both doctor and lawyer, but it’s really fun and usually stress-free. PLUS you get to explore and go on once-in-a-lifetime adventures. I highly recommend this occupation over either of those. Plus, most archaeologists make, on average (with highly-qualified archaeologists), $80–100,000. Salary depends on level of training/studying/skill. It’s highly flexible. If not for the salary, do it for the adventure. Look into it, you might just fall in love.Hope I helped!
