English is an arts subject,Shruty.As you're applying for Bachelor of Arts programme, it will definitely come under arts. In a central university, every subject is having a separate department and that doesn't mean it will change the subject's credibility.

I moved to Chapel Hill as a grad student and had more friends there than I’ve ever had in my life. It’s been a downward spiral since then.I never thought people in Chapel Hill or anywhere in North Carolina were stuck up, elitist or had the kind of social phobias I’ve seen in other parts in the United States. I had my pet peeves about Chapel Hill, and I definitely think Durham is more interesting for adults after age 30, but it’s not a place that’s difficult to meet people. At least it wasn’t 10 years ago.Don’t get me wrong: Chapel Hill is a college town. College towns aren’t very interesting after you’re 30 or 35, because “you’re old.” So, if you’re not in your 20’s anymore, that might be an issue. (There aren’t many places where it isn’t an issue.)But if you’re a student at UNC and aren’t:a dickdeliberately anti-sociala workaholic who doesn’t have time to talk to peopleorNapoleon Dynamiteyou’ll have friends. Hell, even Napoleon Dynamite — bizarre as he is — would probably have a fan club at UNC.One thing I do notice since I was in my 20’s, and definitely since I was an undergrad a few years before iPhones got invented, is that a whole lot of people are just too transfixed by their gadgets to look around and talk to other humans face-to-face. Whether that makes it more difficult to make friends in college than it was 20 years ago, I don’t know. But people in general seem a lot colder and more anti-social than they were when I was in my 20s. And I’m only 38. Personally, I think our technology has fucked us over.

My neighbor at Chapel Hill was pursuing his PhD in CS. He relocated to CA when he got a job from Apple on campus.Tim Cook went to Duke. Wonder whether that impacts whether Apple hires from UNC on campus.

I cannot compare because I am not familiar with the degree program at CSULB. But from my personal experience and to go with the statistics UNCC CS program has got a good reputation(ranked 101 by US News). There are students who earn as high as 110K and low as 70K. The average should be somewhere around 75–80K(which is pretty decent in a place like Charlotte)! Hope this helps!!
