I have naturally calloused hands (although I only do office work) so the tips of my fingers will seldom give enough blood for a glucose sample.In addition to using the sides, I also "rotate" through my fingers. I keep a slip of paper in my meter case that has "R" written on one side and "L" on the other. At the beginning of the day I flip the paper over. If it now shows the "L" then I will be testing on my left hand; if it shows "R" I will be testing with my right.Before breakfast I prick the thumb side of my forefinger, two hours after breakfast I prick the pinky side of the same finger. At lunch I move to my middle finger and at dinner I use my ring finger. I test my pinky before going to bed. The next day I flip the paper over and test on my other hand.If none of your fingers are being generous enough, the meters I have used in the past all suggested alternate sites: earlobe, toes (I have never done this and imagine it would be quite inconvenient, not to mention potentially risky as far as neuropathy is concerned) and forearm.
