Bats. Bats shall be made of Wood or Metal, no 100% Composite bats – (handles may be composite, barrels can only contain metal or wood). Bats must be a USA Softball certified single wall (which includes Fast Pitch) or a wood bat designated as “Official Softball”. Bats prior to 2000 can be used if the umpire deems legal.

Base distances of 75 feet are standard for Stadium Fields. Base distances of 70 feet are standard for fields 325′ or smaller. All players must stay in dugout or in an out of play area. We allow (2) on deck hitters.

The USSSA Baseball Bat standards have not changed since 2005. They continue to require a 1.15 BPF certified thumbprint stamp of approval on the taper of all eligible bats. There can be exceptions that we will touch on, however as a general rule-of-thumb if you are allowed to use a USSSA bat - use it.

A legal pitch has to describe an arc signNowing a minimum of six feet (1.82 metres) and a maximum of 12 feet (3.65 metres). This arc ensures that the pitched ball will travel slowly. The judgment about whether a pitch conforms to these parameters is made by the home plate umpire.

With the new USSSA stamp bats, the bats will be made to meet a compression threshold of 240 lbs. Basically, for the old USSSA stamp bats, if the bat is compression tested and is below 220 lbs, it cannot be used. For the new USSSA stamp bats, if it compression tests below 240 lbs, it cannot be used.
