If you have been in USA for 30 days on B1/B2, then you should not extend your stay. It is like overstaying the hospitality of USA. If a friend invited you for dinner only, would you sleep over night and extend your stay until breakfast and lunch of next day? If not, then the same applies to your B1/B2. You can always leave the country and revisit later.

If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that  they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.
