Do you just beat the crap out of the person until he confesses to his crimes?*)Officer 1: *Laughs* "Jo tum bol raha hai torture kehlata hai aur abhi IPC ke rules ki hisaab se allowed nahi hai. Ye jo tum bol raha hai wo pehle hota tha, abhi nahi. Jab se (don't recall the exact term used here) *New? Liberal?* government aaya hai tab se ye sab nahi hota hai. Jo lock up mein questioning hota hai usme thoda bahut ek-do jhaapad maara jaata hai. Aur sawaal pucha jaata hai." (*What you're stating comes under torture and according to the rules of IPC, it isn't allowed. What you're sating used to be done earlier, not now. Since the new, liberal  government has come to power this has stopped. Whatever questioning is done in the lockup , in that one or two slaps are thrown just to loosen the tongue, and questions are asked.*)Officer 2:"Dekho. Police ka kaam hi hota hai ki dimaag ka haalat bigaadna aur jawaab nikalna. Lekin utna nahi maara pita jaata hai." (*See. It's the police's job to mess up the person's mind and get answers , but still we don;t beat the living daylights out of people.*)Then the conversation continued about what I do and why I asked this question among other things.tl;dr... Yes they beat the suspect up a bit but all that's very "minor" compared to what was done earlier.
