In theory, if the message is completely arbitrary and there is no protocol defined (plaintext with padding is the entire message, nothing extra), then it is impossible. Maybe the sender of the message explicitly wanted to send you the bytes of the padding as part of their message, just by sheer coincidence. How would you tell? Some protocols directly pad the message with 0x00 bytes or random bytes, some use the byte value as the length of the padding (0x02 0x02 is a two-byte padding according to PKCS#7), but what if the padding still makes sense as part of the message after decryption?Check this historical event, for example: The world wonders - Wikipedia. The encryption protocol itself actually did include some meta information about the message (‘GG’ and ‘RR’ marked the beginning and the end of the real message, and the latter was ignored by the person deciphering the message).But in practice, of course, the message is very often embedded in the plaintext with such extra meta-information about it, allowing the receiver to extract and understand the message correctly after decryption.And this is not necessarily about the values of the characters in the padding, it is about knowing the length of the real message and/or the length of the padding (together they should be as long as the entire encrypted message). One of those lengths can be, for example, encoded as an integer in some bytes of the plaintext. After decrypting, the receiver learns this length inside the decrypted data and discards the padding. Or, sometimes the real message length can be transmitted without encryption, if the protocol and usage context permit it (of course it is a bad idea as the message length is a side channel).

If I am not wrong, you cannot modify an Rdd… I believe its the basic concept of functional programming… variable should not be modified, because it's a side effect… Spark streaming API provides you a Dstream which is bunch of Rdds across various time intervals..
