Here is a list of the most common customer questions. If you can't find an answer to your question, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
You can rewire your brain! This is possible due to Neuroplasticity.Neuroplasticity refers to changes in neural pathways and synapses which are due to changes in behavior, environment and neural processes, as well as changes resulting from bodily injury To be honest, the brain is a dynamic entity undergoing changes all the time. As you read this innocent sentence, some neurons in your brain have fired and some synapses have become stronger. Voila! Your brain has been rewired a bit. But I am not talking about these sort of 'boring' changes which occur all the time. What if I told you, your actions can physically alter your brain? Some parts become larger than usual while some parts begin performing tasks they normally don't?László Polgár is the father of the famous "Polgár sisters": Judit, Susan and Sofia. He is an expert in chess and believed that "geniuses are made, not born". Before he had any children, he wrote a book entitled Bring Up Genius!, and sought a wife to help him carry out his experiment. He found one in Klara, a schoolteacher. He home-schooled their three daughters, primarily in chess, and all three went on to become strong players. Susan Polgar became the first female to earn the Grandmaster title.Because of her intense training, her brain had encoded chess board configurations and she was able to not only recognize these configurations but also what moves she had to do from there to win. Show her a random chess board setup that is infrequent her brain is just as slow as normal chess players. So what was happening? A scan of her brain activity showed she was using the part of the brain that recognizes faces to identify chess board configurations. This part of the brain is really developed in humans and face recognition is something humans are really good at. The hours of practice she had put in playing and studying chess had radically changed ho she used her brain to play it.Some of you might be thinking that it was because she got her training from childhood that she was able to become an expert and this fact is useless to someone older. Not really. Recent studies have shown although neuroplasticity declines it still can be made use of in older ages. The Sea Gypsies are a seafaring people who spend a great deal of their time in boats off the coast of Myanmar and Thailand, have unusual underwater vision -- twice as good as Europeans. This has enabled Mokens to gather shellfish at great depths without the aid of scuba gear. How do the Moken do this? They constrict their pupils by 22 percent. The brain orders the body to adapt to suite its needs. Another example of neuroplasticity has been found in London taxi drivers. A cab driver's hippocampus -- the part of the brain that holds spatial representation capacity -- is measurably larger than that of a bus driver. [from Neuroplasticity: You Can Teach An Old Brain New Tricks ]As children we have lots of free time and our brain is really quick to grasp new skills and ideas. To make signNow changes to the brain as grown ups one needs to exercise it regularly and focus on really specific tasks like learning to play the guitar or solve spatial puzzles. Because of the constraints of being social and other reasons, people miss out on this. It has been observed that spiritual leaders and prisoners of war have been able to develop extra-cognitive skills simply because of the immense amount of time they put in meditation, mental exercises and thought experiments. Plasticity can also be observed in the brains of bilinguals (Mechelli et al., 2004). It looks like learning a second language is associated with structural changes in the brain: the left inferior parietal cortex is larger in bilingual brains than in monolingual brains.I'll end with some interesting bits from The Brain that Changes ItselfLearning and brain exercises slow age-related mental declines. For example, education necessitates extra branches among neurons to accommodate the new information; new branching increases the volume and thickness of the brain that would otherwise decline with age.Physical exercise promotes the creation of new neurons in the brain. Yet another reason to start that walking program.Specifically designed brain exercises have been shown to improve brain function in children and adults with learning disabilities. The brain undergoes measurable, physical changes as we think. Computer technology can now use these measurements and changes to allow paralyzed people to moves objects with their thoughts.Researchers at UCSD have used imagination and illusion to restructure brain maps and ‘trick” the brain into managing phantom pain and some forms of chronic pain.Performance can be improved through visualization because action and imagination can activate the same parts of the brain. People have learned to play the piano or achieve greater results in athletic endeavors through mental practice. Is it time to visualize eating a nice salad?[from Neuroplasticity Research Shows “Old Dogs” Can Learn New Tricks!]
When I was in 6th grade I was playing baseball with some of my friends. I wasn't a day over 11 years old when some college ball players from the local college came up to use to field to practice. Being the big ole’ college baseball players, we were happy to give them the field and watch from the stands. As I was leaving, one of the shouted:“Hey!”, which seemed directed at me. I turned around. “Want to take some batting practice with us?” He said. All my friends stared at me. Nobody could believe it. Here I was, 11 years old, getting invited to take batting practice with some “famous” college baseball players. It just doesn't happen.I wondered over, strapped on my helmet and gloves, and started warming up on deck to the side of the college player already taking batting practice. While I'm swinging with all my 11-year old might, tryinf to get warmed up to face what looked like 90mph fastballs coming in from a division-1 pitcher, a kid comes up to me. He had a full grown beard and an extremely deep voice, at least from the perspective of a 11-year old.“So,” He said. “What college do you go to, man?”“Huh?” I didn't think I heard it correctly. Did he just ask me what college I go to? im 11!“Like, you in college?” He said, spitting out some tabacoo.“Uh, uh… Yeah, yeah haha i am”. I said nervously, then spit on the ground. Nailed it.“So, what college?”I named off the local community college. He actually believed me. I looked back at my friends who were hysterical at the fact I was having a conversation with this legend … at least in our eyes at the time.He said “cool, man.” And spit out some more tabcacoo. Then silence.“Arent you gonna go hit?” He said.I looked at the cage. It was empty, the pitcher stood on the mound tossing the ball up and down. Everyone was staring at me.I jumped up, and anxiously skipped over to the batters box. I tug in with my heart beating fiercely land looked at the pitcher on the mound. He spun the ball in his hand, grasped his glove and winded up. The pitch came sizzling in, cutting through the air faster than Ive ever seen.SMACK! The ball collided with the catchers mitt behind me. I flat out missed it.In case youre not familiar with baseball, nobody really misses during batting practice. It's called practice for a reason.Well I missed 8 more times in a row, just hacking and hacking at the air while ball after ball was thrown at speeds faster than I've ever seen. All the college kids on the field just stood their, speechless. I dropped the bat, got my glove, and headed to the outfield to shag some balls. I was embarrassed. Then, another bearded, tabaccoo spitting ball player came up to me.“How old are you, again?” He said.“E-eleven” I said, nervously.“"ELEVEN?!?!” He peered down into my face.“guys!” He shouted back at his friends. "This kid is only 11!”Needless to say all the ball players were shocked, but especially my friends. We all thought they knew I was 12 … guess not.In retrospect, it may have been the fact I was 6′0″, 155lbs the ripe age of 11 years old. Regardless, I never understood how you mistake a baby-faced 11 year old for being a college baseball player.
NOOOOOOO. You are talking to a military romance scammer. I received an email from the US Army that directly answers your question that is pasted below please keep reading.I believe you are the victim of a military Romance Scam whereas the person you are talking to is a foreign national posing as an American Soldier claiming to be stationed overseas on a peacekeeping mission. That's the key to the scam they always claim to be on a peacekeeping mission.Part of their scam is saying that they have no access to their money that their mission is highly dangerous. If your boyfriend girlfriend/future husband/wife is asking you to do the following or has exhibited this behavior, it is a most likely a scam:Moves to private messaging site immediately after meeting you on Facebook or SnapChat or Instagram or some dating or social media site. Often times they delete the site you met them on right after they asked you to move to a more private messaging siteProfesses love to you very quickly & seems to quote poems and song lyrics along with using their own sort of broken language, as they profess their love and devotion quickly. They also showed concern for your health and love for your family.Promises marriage as soon as he/she gets to state for leave that they asked you to pay for. They Requests money (wire transfers) and Amazon, iTune ,Verizon, etc gift cards, for medicine, religious practices, and leaves to come home, internet access, complete job assignments, help sick friend, get him out of trouble, or anything that sounds fishy. The military does provide all the soldier needs including food medical Care and transportation for leave. Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I am just trying to show you examples that you are most likely being connned.Below is an email response I received after I sent an inquiry to the US government when I discovered I was scammed. I received this wonderful response back with lots of useful links on how to find and report your scammer. And how to learn more about Romance Scams.Right now you can also copy the picture he gave you and do a google image search and you will hopefully see the pictures of the real person he is impersonating. this doesn't always work and take some digging. if you find the real person you can direct message them and alert them that their image is being used for scamming.Good Luck to you and I'm sorry this may be happening to you. please continue reading the government response I received below it's very informative. You have contacted an email that is monitored by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Unfortunately, this is a common concern. I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team. Before the interviews, try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Prepare well your resume. You are very likely not going to get algorithm/data structure questions like in the first round. It's going to be just some friendly chat if you are lucky. If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview) but it's worth it of course.
Anything that does not involve going to university and paying for it with loans/grants.Join the service.Get a full time job and take a class at a time and pay with cash.Find an employer that will pay for your schooling.Get married so you can be considered an independent student 9but not from your husband).Jus t get a job. By the time the government lets you file as an independent student(age 24) you may have found an even better pattern that doesn’t involve college at all.
Years ago I worked at document management company. There is cool software that can automate aspects of hand-written forms. We had an airport as a customer - they scanned plenty and (as I said before) this was several years ago...On your airport customs forms, the "boxes" that you 'need' to write on - are basically invisible to the scanner - but are used because then us humans will tend to write neater and clearer which make sit easier to recognize with a computer. Any characters with less than X% accuracy based on a recognition engine are flagged and shown as an image zoomed into the particular character so a human operator can then say "that is an "A". This way, you can rapidly go through most forms and output it to say - an SQL database, complete with link to original image of the form you filled in.If you see "black boxes" at three corners of the document - it is likely set up for scanning (they help to identify and orient the page digitally). If there is a unique barcode on the document somewhere I would theorize there is an even higher likelihood of it being scanned - the document is of enough value to be printed individually which costs more, which means it is likely going to be used on the capture side. (I've noticed in the past in Bahamas and some other Caribbean islands they use these sorts of capture mechanisms, but they have far fewer people entering than the US does everyday)The real answer is: it depends. Depending on each country and its policies and procedures. Generally I would be surprised if they scanned and held onto the paper. In the US, they proably file those for a set period of time then destroy them, perhaps mining them for some data about travellers. In the end, I suspect the "paper-to-data capture" likelihood of customs forms ranges somewhere on a spectrum like this:Third world Customs Guy has paper to show he did his job, paper gets thrown out at end of shift. ------> We keep all the papers! everything is scanned as you pass by customs and unique barcodes identify which flight/gate/area the form was handed out at, so we co-ordinate with cameras in the airport and have captured your image. We also know exactly how much vodka you brought into the country. :)
Just register on the admission portal and during registration you will get an option for the entrance based course. Just register there. There is no separate form for DU CIC.
There’s nothing about the FAFSA that is exclusive or required for US citizens living abroad. The FAFSA is simply the most commonly used application form for student aid applications GENERALLY, and almost every college and university asks for it rather than go to the trouble of inventing their own - even though, in fact, many of them DO have their own application, and STILL want to see a FAFSA.What you actually should do, is go to the website OF THE COLLEGES you are interested in, and check the parts where financial aid is discussed, and see what they want to see.Probably 90% or more will want a FAFSA, maybe 10% will want their own form IN ADDITION to the FAFSA, and a certain number will also want to see the CSS profile. So fill out the FAFSA online. There is part of it which asks for the codes (every college has one) for the colleges you want to have them send the form to. You can send a FAFSA to TEN colleges when you fill out the FAFSA in the first place - AND, you can go back later, and add more colleges.Fill out the FAFSA. The one for fall semester 2018- spring 2019 is available to be filled out beginning, I believe, around October 2017. Most colleges want to have that in their possession by January 2018.Unless, of course, you are independently wealthy, and can afford to pay for college by yourself.Other notes:you fill out the FAFSA every year for the next college year.you can link to the IRS website to pre-fill in a lot of the information the FAFSA asks for (this saves time).you need your own tax return data (if you have such a thing yet) and your parents’ information also.It looks intimidating, but it really isn’t terribly difficult - I would suggest going through the FAFSA website and reading most of the information there before you start, because there are various documents and numbers you will need to have to fill out the form, and it is easier if you have collected all that stuff before you sit down to fill the form out.By the way - I see this idea often and it is wrong - ‘FAFSA’ does NOT give anybody any money. It is an APPLICATION FOR AID. The college you apply to and get accepted at will look at your application, your FAFSA form, all the other required forms you supply to them, and THEN the Financial Aid office will decide a) whether to offer you an aid package and b) what that aid package will contain. It could be a mix of scholarships (great!), grants (wonderful!), student loans of various kinds (read the fine print) and perhaps an offer of work-study. You can accept or refuse any of those, individually.Good luck!
