Yes it can happen. My Dad tried many times in his life and the Bank stole one, a mentor cheated him out of another. But in the end he did finally find the homestead he always dreamed of, and died at home last week. RIP It is sad, but he ultimately did exactly what he always wanted, live a full life and die at home in his own homestead at peace and a burden to none, leaving the world a bit better than when he entered.So always remember, this is a whole lifestyle and POV. Previous government programs that promoted homesteading of unsettled territories allocated 5 years to ‘prove up’ 160 acres.But, my question always was, and is in reply to yours, what is the land like? Is it a former gravel pit with no running water anywhere near, or is it lush but overgrown, desert or arable? How about trees and their roots? The type of land is a major factor in how long it will take to civilize it and be productive. It also might have bearing on how much it costs to clear and improve it.The next issue is how are you going to use the land? Do you just want to live there? Or, do you want to feed your family or grow food for a market? What about livestock? Dairy goats have far different requirements than do dairy cattle, a horse or 2 will use up most of the land if there is a hint of pasture.Dwellings for humans and livestock. You can build a livable habitation in a couple of months for around $30K or less if you stick to a tiny house. Barns and outbuildings can tag along in the human habitation building, using off cuts or allowing you to buy more materials with one delivery charge or perhaps a discount for the amount purchased at once. If you fell trees to plant row crops, you can use the trees for the outbuildings. Climate is a big factor in housing costs. Living in Alaska or northern US and Canada require a much more well-insulated dwelling than does a temperate zone house. Same with living in the desert, while the high desert can get both heat and sub-zero.You can get a mobile home or large caravan and live in that for a few years, if allowed by zoning and planning. They can be had for anywhere from free to $10–50K. Some cost the earth and sky, too, if you want fancy diesel luxury coaches.Growing food for home consumption is pretty easy. Pick a few plots, improve the soil with compost and all the good soil and plant matter dug up from the building sites, top off with old animal dung and you are good to go. Land improvement costs mostly take muscle, maybe a few bucks for fertilizer and pest control. If you use biodynamic or organic methods, very little in the way of either fertilizer and pest control is needed. It takes most summer veg crops about 90 days to maturity. Plant at Easter, then harvest starting around or about the 4th of July (depending on when Easter occurs)If you want to grow food for market, like supplying stores, direct to consumer, farmers’ markets, roadside stands, then more time and money are required to improve the land. You need maximum soil health for highly productive plants. You might need to buy compost the first year, then build your compost piles for future years.If you want to grow crops for livestock, stick to small animals on the 5 acre plot.Water is a major consideration regardless of how you are using the land, but some uses require more water and incur more costs. If you have water in form of a spring or brook, yay. If you are close enough to a city to tap into their lines, costs more. Digging a well can be dicey…quotes are $15 to $30 a foot, $50 or more for challenging terrain. If you strike water early, yay. If not, or a dry well, then money is literally going down a big hole in the ground.As for time, if you work at this 5 acres as if a full time job you could have it operational with livable shelters in a year.In summary — your usage and how you want to live and the type of land you are using all have a bearing on how much it costs to make the entire plot habitable and livable.

Years ago I worked at document management company.  There is cool software that can automate aspects of hand-written forms.  We had an airport as a customer - they scanned plenty and (as I said before) this was several years ago...On your airport customs forms, the "boxes" that you 'need' to write on - are basically invisible to the scanner - but are used because then us humans will tend to write neater and clearer which make sit easier to recognize with a computer.  Any characters with less than X% accuracy based on a recognition engine are flagged and shown as an image zoomed into the particular character so a human operator can then say "that is an "A".   This way, you can rapidly go through most forms and output it to say - an SQL database, complete with link to original image of the form you filled in.If you see "black boxes" at three corners of the document - it is likely set up for scanning (they help to identify and orient the page digitally).  If there is a unique barcode on the document somewhere I would theorize there is an even higher likelihood of it being scanned - the document is of enough value to be printed individually which costs more, which means it is likely going to be used on the capture side.   (I've noticed in the past in Bahamas and some other Caribbean islands they use these sorts of capture mechanisms, but they have far fewer people entering than the US does everyday)The real answer is: it depends.  Depending on each country and its policies and procedures.  Generally I would be surprised if they scanned and held onto the paper.   In the US, they proably file those for a set period of time then destroy them, perhaps mining them for some data about travellers. In the end,  I suspect the "paper-to-data capture" likelihood of customs forms ranges somewhere on a spectrum like this:Third world Customs Guy has paper to show he did his job, paper gets thrown out at end of shift. ------>  We keep all the papers! everything is scanned as you pass by customs and unique barcodes identify which flight/gate/area the form was handed out at, so we co-ordinate with cameras in the airport and have captured your image.  We also know exactly how much vodka you brought into the country. :)

If you're confident enough that you will definitely get CSE then fill the names of the institutes in descending order of your preferences , branch being the same ie CSE .Keep in mind that the form once submitted , you can't re-enter in the form filling process .It is always wise to fill names of all the institutes and also that of all the branches in descending order of preferences , because if you can't get CSE in any institute you will be nowhere , resulting to loss of one valuable year of life .
