The term empath took that role because people read about how empaths are empathetic, they wear out when they are in public easily and they can read a room or a person very well. These descriptions are so generalized and can account for many, many people’s prospective of them, the population is running with it. Empathy is a learned skill. Some people are naturally more inclined to it. Being worn out can be because you’re an introvert. So many things can account for the generalization of the term empath.A relationship with a narcissist or a person who has narcissistic tendencies can be described by many dynamics in psychology. Narcissist and codependent or a push-pull dynamic are common. But people are gravitating towards narc-empath. Could it be because labeling yourself an empath makes you the “good guy” in the situation? The more loving, caring victim? Possibly.
