Checked the official answer key on 14th, I was getting 206 marks(Physics-63,Chemistry-85,Math-58). I was a bit disappointed committing those mistakes and also 2 answers were wrong in chemistry, and one question was dropped in physics (Damn NTA, how can they do this, that question wasted my 10 mins in exam and they simply dropped it and how they can give wrong answers in such an important exam).I was thinking that I might get at least 98.7+ percentile considering difficulty level of paper and rank around 12000–13000 (I did my calculations and was expecting such rank scenario after they adopted percentile system, but they took it to a different level).Fast forward to yesterday night, I was studying for JEE Advanced when my friend called and told me that “Bhai, Main ka result aagya dekhle”(Translation-”Bro, JEE Main results are announced, go and check yours”). After 6 unsuccessful attempt,finally it logged in, and what I saw was slightly shocking for me.Percentile : 98.4181….CRL Rank : 18053I was like “WTF NTA is doing, a student scoring 206 gets 18000+ rank. Last year my friend got 157 and his rank was around 15000. I know last year paper was tough but this is just hell !!! .That means A person scoring 200+ couldn’t get even ECE or Electrical branch(forget CSE) in top 6–7 NITs, (even after having a category rank)”.But NTA is NTA, they can do anything(“Wo NTA hai, kuch bhi krr sakti hai”).Someone scoring 240 marks (9th April,1st shift) has rank close to 19000.Someone scoring 206 marks(10th April,1st shift) has rank 18053.Someone having 202 marks marks(9th January,1st shift) has rank slightly over 8500.(And the list goes on)NTA has literally screwed up entire JEE Main by introducing percentile and their normalization system. I admit every paper is not of same level and a system to ensure unbiased result should be there, but in exam hall everyone has same 3 hours, same pressure (droppers are under even more pressure), they face the same examination heat,and after all this if he gets a decent score, his/her rank is about 3 to 4 times higher than what would have being last year with that same score, that’s not acceptable.But all this is now past and is only a topic of debate and discussion, I feel those who are facing this kind of situation should now focus and do their best in JEE Advanced because getting 200–250 marks in JEE Main is not joke that NTA has made it.Now, preparing for JEE Advanced; Hope it goes wellBest of luck to everyone else who’s appearingRegards.[PS : This is my second answer only, Sorry for grammatical errors (if present)]EDIT : Some people are telling me that they am getting 16000 rank with 206 marks and 17000 rank with 203 marks in same paper.
