So, if you are insistutionalized in a hospital and a professionals declares you as unable to attend school, yes, it would be legal.. Here in CA they have something called guardianship, where you can become a legal adult as a minor if your parents are abusive or you can prove you are capable of living on your own..You'd probably have to do something similar in Michigan…

The name of the university on your degree is irrelevant to most employers. What is important is what you can actually do with the knowledge you’ve gained. I’m at a point in my business where I have to select freelancers to work on projects for my business. What I care about is what you can bring to the table today, whether or not you have worked in similar projects in the past and can show some past results, and whether or not you have the capability to solve difficult problems. The name of the university on your degree (or whether you have a degree at all) plays absolutely no role in my decision. Companies that hire strictly based on the university from which you graduated are going to be full of arrogant people and probably won’t be fun places to work.In summary, knowledge is important, and you should acquire as much as possible, and you should learn strategies that you can use to acquire new knowledge on your own. You also need to be able to think through and articulate solutions to difficult problems in your field. But skills are just as important, and your value in the workforce will most likely be determined by what you can produce, not what university you attended.

Call the health service and ask if dental work is covered under your policy. It is not under most medical policies. It was not under the college medical policy my daughter had.Ask the carrier how much if anything they pay.Call the dentist or oral surgeon and ask what the charges are. Explain you are in school and ask if there is a student rate. All they can do is say No.If UM has a dental school, contact the dental school for care. It will be highly supervised even though performed by  senior students or residents. That is the way it works at the University of Illinois

As others have said, of course Vanderbilt! (I graduated from Umich this year.)4 years from now, you'll be graduating and you'll be thinking if it was worth the money you spent on it. If you choose Michigan, chances are extremely high that you'll be terribly regretting it that day! It's 400k$!!!! And honestly, it's not gonna make that much difference, if any… definitely not 400k$ difference!If you wanna go to grad school, they care about your research, your courses, and your recommendation letters, your GPA, and your GRE scores, not the name of your university (and Vanderbilt has a pretty good reputation too). If you wanna find a job, they care about your gpa, your internships, and possibly your courses and recommendation letters, and lastly the reputation of university. It is very unlikely that other factors of your application completely equates a competitor of yours, so they'd base their decision on the name of your college!!!! So it's stupid to worry about that!Go where is financially better for you… especially if it is Vanderbilt!!!

I understand your concerns. I have sometimes felt similarly. People in the US have been raised in a system where the name of your school matters a lot. And, obviously, schools at the top of those ranks are interested in making a case of why that is true. Because of this, the reality is that the name of your school will matter more than it should in the initial phases of your career. For example, if you are going to apply to any academic position, you better have a PhD from an "elite" university. Those that don't basically get cut in the first step without even getting their resume read (this usually makes sense when, for any given academic position in a "decent" university you can get over a thousand applicants). Also, if you are applying for a job position or internship and you have no previous experience, your academic background will take over. You can get cut from many positions.That said, long term, your academic credentials are going to make very little difference. Besides, most of the universities listed above are really good (some would even call them "elite" as they would call your own University of Massachusetts). In any case, my point is that you will find many, many successful people that have either drop out or not attended an elite university, for some definition of elite. I consider myself one of those. I definitely did not study my undergrad or PhD in an "elite" university, and I do consider myself somewhat successful. So, what do people like me do to improve the chances of becoming successful long term? Easy: focus on all the many other things that can make you successful. Some ideas:Personal projectsPublicationsOpen source projectsCommunication skillsTechnical skillsExperience in general...If you optimize in all those dimensions, trust me, you won't miss the 10% that an "elite" university degree could give you in life.As a last side note, given my later experience in life I am not sure I would go back and change my time at my university (especially undergrad) for being in an elite one. Sure, I would have met many interesting people and probably have overall better teaching. But, I would have missed many other things such as teaching in several schools, playing in a rock band, working, or being involved in many other extra-curricular activities. I am convinced all of those contributed in some way to my skills. So, start making the best out of life outside academia right now.Hopefully, I have given you many reasons to overcome your feelings on this issue. As I said, you will have plenty of time in your life to make what you want of it.
