If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that  they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.

My mother used to take me downtown to window shop after she got off work and while we waited for my father to get off work. I grew to love the hustle and bustle of “the city”. After we moved to the San Mateo peninsula I longed to be in the city. I went there as often as I could. Even while living in LA for four years I made any excuse I could to go back. Finally, I transferred from UCLA to USF (2007). I loved every minute of being there. Working as a real estate appraiser made it even more interesting.However, in 2010 I started working as a commercial real estate broker and my offices were downtown. At first I loved it, but then I started to take note of all the changes in the culture of the city. While I liked the business, it provided an indirect perspective of the changes the tech sector brought to the city.I met many very intelligent people, though the majority of them were very disconnected from the original culture of the city. There seemed to be an overwhelming sentiment of superiority toward the non tech locals, expressed either inadvertently or blatantly.I actually had one tenant of a multi-family building comment to me something along the lines of “ I don't know why all these locals have such a problem with tech's influence in the city…there is now a huge population of highly educated, cultured, professionals living in the city…we’re making this run down city better than it ever was…we have way more to offer to them (long term non tech city residents) than they have to offer us”.I interpreted that as pompous and elitist. While that is just one example, it was one that I personally felt and sensed from numerous tech related city transplants.Regardless if this is true or even the case, I found myself disliking the majority of people I met, disliking the night life, and disliking the degree of gentrification.I moved to Walnut Creek a few years ago, which I grew to love. However, being in real estate and living downtown, I noticed that same crowd is now growing substantially here as well. While it has brought great prosperity to the city, the once slower, suburban feeling of WC is now starting to resemble that of SF. Tech companies are moving in here too. At lunch time the streets are inundated with tech workers walking while staring down at their phones, not looking anyone in the eye or saying hello to anyone. The condo building I live in once had several older residents despite being a new building. They were always courteous, social, and we often got together with our neighbors. Over the past 3 years, the majority of them have moved and the new majority is sub 30 year millennials. They don't say hello, don't speak, take the elevator with their phones in their faces, and are NOT polite or social whatsoever. The whole feeling in my building has changed.While I thought of moving again, my client base restricts me from leaving the area.Lastly, after living in and spending time in numerous other big cities (LA, Rome, París, New York) i find it baffling how much poverty is present in SF.
