The cop closest to the door had both hands on her gun, which was pointed about a foot left of my center body mass. The other cop had her hand on her gun still in the holster. I threw my hands up high, and answered their questions as calmly as I could. They explained that the ADT alarm folks reported that the silent panic code had been entered repeatedly, and it was obvious to me that the Rockledge, Florida Police Officers quickly and appropriately replied. I don’t know if the same police response is given to the run-of-the-mill alarm activation, but the silent panic mode and the implied “A homeowner is in danger!” resulted in a very impressive tactical response! Of course every police station is totally independent, and their alarm response policies vary greatly depending on their manning capabilities and other factors. If you don't know what your silent alarm panic code is, you might want to contact your alarm company and find out what your code is. In the event you are ever forced to disarm your alarm (say with a gun against your head) you can first enter your duress code, and then enter the alarm cancellation code. If you have a monitored alarm system, I think you might get a visit from the police.

I surely would not be okay with it.

It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.
